This copy is bright, tight, white and square. A dust wrapper is not present. This lovely book is a richly produced, abridged edition of Samuel Pepys's famous Restoration?era diary. It was edited by O. F. Morshead This edition is especially notable for its 60 illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard, the celebrated artist behind Winnie?the?Pooh and The Wind in the Willows. The diary entries from 1660-1669, covering Pepys's eyewitness accounts of major events such as The Great Plague of 1665 , the Great Fire of London (1666) and the Second Dutch War. Pepys's candid reflections on daily life, politics, marriage, society, and his own personal flaws. There are 60 illustrations (57 plates + additional drawings) by E. H.
