Pages clean and in very good order, some with slight curl to tip of the upper corner; illustrated front cover faintly creased towards the bottom, where there is a little fading. Hatfield was Clinical Assistant in Psychiatry at Barts at about this period.

Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Black titles on tan coloured cloth boards which have some minor marks and fading to spine but with no wear. Internally there is a small name to front pastedown, some age darkening to endpapers, foxing to top edge and minor creasing to a few pages else clean, tight and unmarked. xi + 181 pages. First published Ansel Adams photographs. Vol XI, No. 3, for 1922. This was published during a several-year time period when the Sierra Club did not stipulate the month of an issue, just the volume, the number, and the year; monthly designations for such an infrequent publication having always been somewhat unnecessary in any case. Original printed wrappers, 9 1/4" x 6 1/4", 113 pp. + numerous unpaginated photographic plates, features and ads - including two very precious shots which are the first published Ansel Adams photographs. Buff stapled wraps, Very Good or better, and internally fine, of course. Circuit binding (yapp binding) was used, in which cover edges were intentionally extended out beyond page edges, but over time the extended part becomes pressed inward somewhat (see third scan for the unusual degree of this is this issue). No date circa 1912. 192 pages, b/w illustrations, numerous b/w adverts including prices, coloured advert card tipped in for Goerz Emulsion and colour advert for the Popular Pressman camera. Pages 3-16 cover the article by Mortimer, but the rest of the book is devoted to adverts and is essentially a photographic catalogue. Original green cloth binding with gilt lettering, good with some general wear and rubbing to extremities, cloth a little marked with a small blue ink stain to the bottom corner of the front board. Contents good and tight, some pencil notes and marks, a little general reading wear. A good tight copy. Seemingly produced just for this Bristol retailer - M. W. Dunscombe and therefore scarce - no copy is recorded on Copac. Size: 12mo (11 x 16cm). Book.

Profusely illustrated in color and monochrome images, the text consists of excerpts from Churchill's original four-volume opus with additional annotation notes, treatises and sidebars contributed by other distinguished writers. Once all the parts were issued, the publisher bound them in a variety of formats. This 23-volume set in handsome red faux leather is the most attractive and accessible. The bindings here are rubbed at some spine heads, with fractional losses to a few volumes and very light shelf-wear here and there. The contents are fine,
