He was the President of the Packard Motor Car Company from 1916-1939. This book is inscribed by Estelle Macauley (Alvan's Wife) "To Pearl (Boyer Candler) and Henry (E. Candler) - I think you will find the Family Album interesting, especially the picture on page 41. All Good Wishes, Estelle" and then under "Transcribed by Alvan Macauley, Jr." On page 41 is a photo of Alvan Macauley and Joseph Boyer of Burroughs Adding Machine Company. Boyer would be Pearl's father. Under the first inscription is another that reads "Presented to Henry E. Candler II as a pleasant reminder of the men who made Detroit famous. Henry E. Candler 4/30/60" Henry E. Candler died just a few months later. Interior clean; binding tight. 79pp. Boards tartan cloth and leather & gold gilt script. VG+ condition. Inscribed by Author(s).
