As the… result of a shooting death of a police officer during the August 8, 1978 raid on the MOVE Organization headquarters, 9 leading members of the MOVE Organization were sentenced to 30 to 100 year prison terms. On May 13, 1985, the Philadelphia police launched a full- scale military assault on the MOVE Organization headquarters - including aerial bombardment - and killed eleven MOVE Organization members, five of them children. Includes issues nr.3; 5 [2 copies]; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10; 11; 12; 13;14; 15; 16 [2 copies]; 17; 18; 19; 20; 21; 23 [May 1994 -January 2001]…. Each is caption- titled. All but two issues run 12 pages each [Issue nr. 11runs 32 pp; Issue nr. 18 runs 8pp]. Several bear small tears to page margins. Issue 23 has a stain to front page, otherwise all are in Very Good condition. TOGETHER WITH 3 leaflets ["Long Live John Africa!!!", "To All Interested People - from the MOVE Organization"; "Press Release: Who Are the MOVE 9?"] and a 27-page photocopy of articles from First Day issue nr. 4 . Contributors include MOVE Organization founder John Africa & Death Row- imprisoned Black revolutionary Mumia Abu-Jamal. Contents mainly concern the 9 MOVE members serving 30 to 100 year prison terms, the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal, and the cases of other imprisoned American black revolutionaries.
