Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1895. First American edition. Tan decorative cloth, designed and lettered in red and gilt. A bit of soiling to cloth at spine and edges of covers, inner front hinge a bit loose, a decent very good copy in general, quite attractive. The British edition was published by Blackwood in 1896. The story of an…"unconventional" group of expatriates in Mexico. This looks to be fiction, but an earlier book, "A Strange Career", is a memoir of John Gladwyn Jebb; it has an introduction by H. Rider Haggard, in which Haggard states that he believed Jebb had the key to finding Montezuma's treasure.
