Condition: Very Good. Octavo, fine in white plastic case. Jerry Maren was the Lollipop Kid, part of the Lollipop Guild, with the Munchkins in the film, "The Wizard of Oz". A versatile performer, he went on the perform as Little Oscar, for the Oscar Mayer meat company, and as Mayor McCheese and The Hamburglar for McDonalds Corp. He also had a walk-on in a "Seinfeld" episode. Maren was the last surviving cast member from the 1939 film. This photograph is boldly signed, " Jerry / Maren / Lollipop / Kid " in black ink, and undersigned by Marcella Krienzler, who was married to Emil Kranzler, one of the village Munchkins. Also signed by Mary Ellen St. Aubin ( co-owner of The Midget Club in Chicago with her Munchkin husband, Parnell), First Trumpeter Karl Slover; Townswoman/dancer, Margaret Pellegrini, and Anna (Mrs. Frank Cucksey) Mitchell Note: likely signed after Emil's death in 1993, at a convention at the OzCot in Chesterton, Indiana.

These little people who populated Munchkin County in L. Frank Baum's "Oz" tales starting with "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" in 1900 were further popularized by the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz," and their popularity only increased in recent decades as the number of surviving Munchkins dwindled. PS, an 11" X 17" color poster for the "22nd Annual Wizard of Oz Festival" held in Chesterton, Indiana, September 19-21, 2003. Near fine. Large central image features an artist's rendering of the Wicked Witch of the West at left facing off with Glinda the Good Witch at right on the yellow brick road, Munchkins in the background. Seven Munchkins sign boldly down Glinda's light-colored gown, with two more signatures along the yellow brick road beneath. From the top: CLARENCE SWENSEN (1917-2009) signs in green fineline, adding "Soldier"; last survivor JERRY MAREN (1920-2018) signs in black fineline, adding "Lollipop kid"; Munchkin-by-marriage ANNA CUCKSEY MITCHELL (widow of Frank Kucksey, 1919-84) signs in black fineline; KARL SLOVER (1918-2011) signs in black fineline, adding "1st Trumpeter"; DONNA STEWART HARDWAY (1933-2008) signs in black fineline, adding "Child Munchkin / Oz '39"; Munchkin-by-marriage MARY ELLEN ST. AUBIN (1920-2021; widow of Pernell St. Aubin, 1922-87); Oz historian JOHN FRICKE (b. 1950) signs in black ballpoint; Judy Garland stand-in CAREN MARSH (b. 1919) signs in black fineline; and MARGARET PELLEGRINI (1923-2013) signs in blue fineline, adding "Munchkin Love" above. A delightful assemblage signed by five Munchkins, two Munchkins-by-marriage, the last surviving non-Munchkin cast member (now 106 years old) and a noted "Wizard of Oz" and Judy Garland historian.
