Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides an in-depth analysis of the enigmatic Egyptian calendar and zodiac systems. The author delves into the history and origins of these systems, exploring their connection to the broader context of ancient Egyptian culture and religion. The book sheds light on the unique features of the Egyptian calendar, such as its division into 12 months of 30 days each, with five additional epagomenal days. It also delves into the significance of the Sothic cycle, a period of 1461 years linked to the heliacal rising of the star Sirius. Through meticulous research and examination of ancient texts, the author unravels the symbolism and astronomical knowledge embedded within the Egyptian zodiac. The book offers a fresh perspective on the origins of the zodiac, suggesting that some of its signs may have originated in ancient Egypt. This book is a valuable resource for scholars of ancient Egypt and anyone interested in the origins of timekeeping and astrology. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the intricate systems developed by the ancient Egyptians to measure time and navigate the cosmos, offering insights into the intellectual and spiritual landscape of one of the world's most fascinating civilizations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Add to basket2 volumes. 4to. Fine in quarter straight grained morocco for Andrew Carnegie at Skibo Castle, with his bookplate. Andrew Carnegie [1835 - 1919] was a Scottish born industrialist and philanthropist, who, among other things, funded the building of over 2,000 libraries worldwide. In 1898 he purchased Skibo Castle in the Scottish Highlands spending £2 million on restoration. It remained with the Carnegie family until 1982 when it was sold, presumably the extensive library was dispersed at this time. We can offer a collection of the Maitland Club publications, specially bound for Carnegie in dark red straight grained morocco and all in fine condition, bearing his bookplate. The Maitland Club was private historical and literary club modelled on the Roxburghe and Bannatyne Clubs with publications usually limited to members. The typical print run was between 70 and 100 copies, with a some early titles issued in as few as 50 copies. Maitland Club, 71 (1854).…
