Er war Scholaster des Stifts Vreden. Nünning legte eine Büchersammlung von 9.000 Titeln an. Diese war als Grundlage für eine Universitätsbibliothek in Münster gedacht und befindet sich heute auf Haus Ruhr. Er verstarb auf Haus Wiekinghoff in Borken-Grütlohn."
