More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Binding is noticeably loose but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has light tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

Son of disillusioned one-time Irving associate Robert Baxter, Michael became an Anglican clergyman, was founder of the Christian Herald, associate of Moody and Sankey, engaged in prophetical speculations, and ran a mission to the poor of Shoreditch, London. The author also wrote a biography of his wife Elizabeth Baxter under the same pseudonym. 1924 gift inscription from author "James J Ellis (Nathaniel Wiseman)".
