A substantial Dutch commemorative volume published for the 40th anniversary of the Nederlandschen Bond van Jongelingsvereenigingen op Gereformeerden Grondslag. The book documents the history and development of the organization from 1888 to 1928, with extensive historical material, photographs and illustrations. Contents include the history of the Bond, its organization and methodology, meetings, publications, regional branches, the 40th anniversary celebrations, and name and subject indexes. The volume includes numerous photographic illustrations and historical portraits, including A. Zijlstra, and extensive documentary material concerning the organization and its regional associations. Physical / Condition Large-format hardcover in the original dark blue cloth binding with elaborate gilt and embossed Art Nouveau-style decoration and gilt lettering. Approximately 400 pages, illustrated with black-and-white photographs and plates; includes name and subject indexes. Condition: Fair. The book is complete and internally quite well preserved, with generally clean pages and good legibility. The original decorative cloth binding shows considerable age-related wear: rubbing and scuffing to the cloth, worn corners and edges, and pronounced wear/fraying to the head and tail of the spine. The top and bottom spine areas have some loss of cloth. The page block shows some age-related warping and separation between portions of the paper edges, but the book remains usable and the illustrated contents are well preserved. No major loss of text or illustrations is apparent from inspection.…
