González Porree aborda el estudio de Marciano de Heraclea como precedente antiguo de la tarea de recomposición y edición del género periplográfico; S. Bianchetti se adentra en la relaciones existentes entre la geografía científica y el pensamiento geográfico que se refleja en el perfil literario; y F. Frontera reflexiona sobre el papel de la geografía en Roma y su literatura. Componen la segunda parte un estudio de V. Costa sobre la tradición de los epítomes y su relación con la historiografía griega; una contribución de R. Nicolai sobre la dificultad de definir fronteras genéricas entre geografía e historia en un caso como la Anábasis de Jenofonte; una reflexión de G. Cruz Andreotti sobre la huella del papel desempeñado por la expansión romana en la percepción de los espacios y las realidades geo-etnográficas; y una semblanza de J.
