4 pages; in-8. Condition: Good, with some light staining and small tears. Official royal printing of an edict by Louis XIV, issued at Fontainebleau in 1707 and printed the following year in Paris by the King's printers. The decree reorganizes the Commissioners of the Châtelet of Paris?the city's key judicial and police body?by integrating new offices, raising salaries, and requiring officials to purchase royal annuities. An example from the late reign of Louis XIV, illustrating how the king sought to sustain his government and the War of the Spanish Succession through administrative reform and the monetization of offices.
