Die Seiten und Schnittkanten sind auf Grund Alter und Sonnenlicht verfärbt, gebräunt. Dafür vorhanden ist ein Heft mit der Reihennummer 38b, das aber in den Listen auf den Broschüren-Rückseiten nirgends vermerkt ist (die Reihennummer 38a gehört zu Heft 7, Heft 8/9 von 1888: 44,45). ? Lustspiel). ?? Besonders bemerkenswert scheint der relativ hohe Stellenwert, der in dieser Publikationsreihe Jakob Stutz eingeräumt wird. Angesichts seiner Vita und der Zeitumstände ist das aus heutiger Sicht nicht selbstverständlich und darf wohl auch als postume Rehabilitierung gewertet werden : Jakob Stutz (Isikon b. Hittnau, Kt. Zürich 1801?1877 Bettswil b. Bäretswil ZH), von Hittnau, ref., Lehrer und Volksdichter. Nach der Volksschule Unterricht bei Pfarrer Salomon Tobler, Besuch von Lehrerkursen, Kontakt mit pietistischen Kreisen, 1827 Lehrer an der Blinden- und Taubstummenanstalt Zürich unter Ignaz Thomas Scherr. Ab 1836 leitete Stutz eine Privatschule in Schwellbrunn, inszenierte dort eigene Dramen [.], wurde aber 1841 wegen pädophiler Neigungen entlassen. 1842 bezog Stutz eine Klause in Sternenberg [?Jakobszelle?], wo er junge Leute, u.a. Jakob Senn und Jakob Messikommer, um sich sammelte sowie eine Bibliothek und eine Sparkasse gründete. Der Homosexualität angeklagt, wurde er 1856 des Kt. Zürich verwiesen. Stutz schlug sich als Hauslehrer und Dorftheaterregisseur durch, bis ihn 1867 seine Nichte Margaretha Walder in Bettswil aufnahm. Nach ersten moritatenhaften Gedichten ab 1818 erschienen ab 1829 mundartliche Gespräche im ?Zürcher Kalender? und 1831 die erste der sechs erfolgreichen Sammlungen ?Gemälde aus dem Volksleben [?] in gereimten Gesprächen Zürchererischer Mundart? Darin hebt Stutz in didaktischer Absicht die dunkleren Seiten des Landlebens hervor und wendet sich gegen dessen Verklärung durch die damalige Mundartdichtung. Der Quellenwert seiner ?Gemälde?, in denen er auch den Brand von Uster darstellte (Bd. 3, 1836), sowie seiner Autobiografie (1853) beruht auch darauf, dass er infolge rudimentärer Bildung und prekärer Lebenssituation die Verbindung zum volksmässigen Denken nie verloren hat.?
