Die Arbeit mit einem vor Therapiebeginn formulierten Fokus ist in der psychodynamischen Kurztherapie ein mittlerweile verbreitetes Verfahren. Es soll dazu dienen, sich in der Kürze der zur Verfügung stehenden Zeit auf die Là sung des derzeit zentralen Konflikts des Patienten zu konzentrieren, den sogenannten Fokalkonflikt. Bisher wurde jedoch noch wenig untersucht, welche Rolle dieser Fokus im Therapieprozess selbst spielt. In dieser Arbeit wird mikroanalytisch untersucht, wie sich die therapeutische Arbeit mit dem Fokus im Therapieverlauf auf den Therapieerfolg auswirkt. Dazu werden die Transkripte von zehn fünfzehnstündigen Fokaltherapien mit Patienten mit unterschiedlichen Stà rungsbildern analysiert. Dazu ist auch die methodische Fragestellung zu bearbeiten, wie sich das semantische Auftauchen des Fokus im Therapiematerial überhaupt identifizieren lässt, da der Fokus von Therapeut und Patient nur selten in seiner wà rtlichen, vollständigen Form verbalisiert wird. Dazu werden die in freier Sprache psychodynamisch formulierten Foki in das standardisierte Kategoriensystem der ZBKT-Methode (Zentrales Beziehungskonfliktthema) übersetzt. In Einzelfallstudien wird analysiert, welche Zusammenhänge es zwischen dem Fokus und dem zentralen Beziehungskonfliktthema jedes Patienten gibt und ob sich die zentralen Interventionen des Therapeuten mit dem Fokus decken. Im Anschluss daran wird gruppenstatistisch untersucht, wie sich die therapeutische Arbeit mit dem Fokus bei den Patienten mit niedrigem und den Patienten mit gutem Therapieerfolg unterscheidet. Eine Diskussion der Ergebnisse hinsichtlich ihrer Bedeutung und der Schlüsse, die sich aus ihnen für weitere Forschungen ziehen lassen, runden die Arbeit ab.
