Overall an excellent and neat copy. SIGNED BY AUTHOR. The much-traveled battered black metal trunk, a legacy of many voyages, had been opened for forty years and lay sitting on four bricks at the dusty cellar. The heavy brass Yale Padlock, fully two and a quarter inches wide, was tarnished and the type favoured by mariners a century early. It yields noiselessly to the key and a little lubrication. The white steel hasp was pried free, and the steal bar back from the staples with some protests. I found the nearly wrapped paper parcel tied with old and mild-tainted cord, brown with age. Loosely bound in green oil cloth. The dusty parcel. Lay between the folded Khaki trousers and tunic of a soldier of t the great war. The black and faded creamy yellow shoulder patches had lost the freshness of colour of the time. But the brass letter A was prominent. Inside was an octavo-size photo album with a frayed and faded green colour. The photographs look professional quality, taken ninety-four years ago and mounted on a page. The provenance was impeccable and affixed the inside cover was nearly penned inscription To H.D Norman, as a slight memento of the pleasant hour, in your company, at Broome. From W.H. Troutman, August. 9th/10. Extra charges for oversea postage as the book weight is over 500grams . Overall an excellent and neat copy. Signed by Author(s).
