Deuxième édition (parue un an après l'édition originale) de l'ouvrage le plus important de l'a…uteur. Il comporte (p.130) la description du canal inguinal qui prendra le nom de canal de Nuck et la première description du réseau lymphatique de l'ovaire. On y trouve aussi (pp. 68-69) une expérimentation remarquable de ligature tubaire d'une chienne trois jours après un coït pour tenter d'élucider les phénomènes de la génération ; Nuck observa au 21e jour deux fœtus intra-tubaires, entre la ligature et l'ovaire. Needham jugea ce travail " very important, as one of the earliest instances of experimental procedure ". Nuck démontre par ailleurs la structure glandulaire de la glande mammaire à l'aide d'injections mercurielles. Cet ouvrage est orné de neuf belles planches dépliantes, comportant au total 41 figures. Nuck fut professeur d'anatomie à Leyde.
