A scientifically sound approach is needed to ensure that flushable consumer products are compatible with household plumbing fixtures, as well as wastewater collection and treatment systems. In addition to assessing disposal system compatibility, an assessment approach should also ensure that flushable consumer products do not become an aesthetic nuisance in surface waters and soil environments. This document presents an overall approach for assessing the fate and compatibility of consumer products in wastewater disposal systems. While the focus of this document is on the United States, it is believed that the conceptual approach and many of the test methods could be used to assess the compatibility of flushable consumer products in wastewater disposal systems throughout the world.

Needham jugea ce travail " very important, as one of the earliest instances of experimental procedure ". Nuck fut professeur d'anatomie à Leyde. Garrison-Morton, 1101 & 1213)."Nuck, first at The Hague and later professor at Leiden, was well known as an oculist, aurist, and dentist, and did his most important work in investigating the lymphatics and glands, in which he used the injection technique much as Ruysch had done with the blood vessels" (Heirs of Hippocrates, n° 673).Illustré de 6 planches dépliantes gravées sur cuivre, montrant des glands salivaires.Papier roussi, coiffes élimées. Hardcover. Condition: Good. 2nd Edition. Leiden: Apud Jord. Luchtmans, 1696. Second edition. A foundational work in early anatomical science, Adenographia Curiosa by the Dutch anatomist Antonius Nuck (16501692) presents one of the earliest systematic studies of the glands and lymphatic system, along with a pioneering anatomical description of the female reproductive organs, including what would later be referred to as "Nuck's canal." The text offers detailed observational accounts, experimental findings, and clinical implications relating to glandular structure and lymph circulation. The accompanying engravings, finely executed and folding to large format, provide clear demonstrations of the microscopic and gross anatomy central to Nuck's research. This 1696 edition is expanded with Nuck's important inaugural medical dissertation on the circular motion of bile and its pathological effects, reflecting the transitional medical thought between humoral and early mechanistic physiology. The work became influential in anatomical teaching throughout the late 17th and early 18th centuries and represents a critical step in the development of reproductive and lymphatic anatomical understanding. Condition & Binding: Bound in a later (likely 19th-century) half-leather over cloth boards, with gilt title to spine ("Nuck's Anatome"). Binding shows visible edge wear, scuffing to corners and spine, and some cracking along joints, but remains sound and intact overall. Text is generally clean and legible, with expected toning and mild scattered foxing. Plates are present and fold-outs remain intact, though several exhibit creasing, edge wear, and small closed tears from handling, but without significant loss to printed image. Title leaf shows some toning and light handling marks. Overall- good.

RARO. RARE. Good copy. Bibl.: Krivatsy, 8359 e Wellcome IV p. 250.

Anton Nuck (1650?1692), professor of anatomy at Leiden, was distinguished for his investigations of the glands and lymphatics. In this book he first described the lymphatic network of the ovary. On pages 130 et seq. he describes the inguinal canal, called after him the ?canal of Nuck? The volume also contains (pp. 68?69) Nuck?s experiment by which he recognised the homology of the mammalian ovary with that of oviparous animals. Professor Needham calls this ?very important, as one of the earliest instances of experimental procedure. He ligatured the uterine horns after copulation in a dog, and observed pregnancy afterwards, implantation having taken place above the ligature. His conclusion was that the embryo was derived from the ovary and not from the sperm?? G&M 1213. Speert, Obstetric and gynecologic milestones, pp. 95?101.
