Manuscript / Paper Collectible
See his entry, and that of Ross, in the Oxford DNB. 1p, 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged. On blue paper. Folded twice for postage. Ross is not named, the letter being addressed to him as 'The Provost, / Oriel College, / Oxford.' Bold signature: 'Nuffield'. Headed 'PERSONAL' and beginning: 'My dear Provost, / Now that your term as Vice-Chancellor has come to an end, I feel I should like to send you a brief assurance of the warmth of my appreciation of the valuable help you have always so readily given in the development of my Trusts and my other University interests.' He realises that the 'advancement' of the trusts 'is dependant to no small extent on the active interest of the Vice-Chancellor', and he and 'the many who are actively concerned in the progress of the Trusts, are very sensible of the gratitude we owe to you for the intentness of your co-operation during the last three years.'.
