Oddi erwähnt die kürzlich erfolgte Nominierung des umstrittenen kroatischen Bischofs Alojzije Stepinacs zur Aufnahme ins Kardinalskollegium a…ls Stein des Anstoßes. Auch Roncalli selbst sei in "Borba" erwähnt worden, und eine "Krise im Schoß der UNESCO" sowie die Annäherung des frankistischen Spaniens an die UNO seien als Kabalen des Vatikans dargestellt worden. Stepinac befand sich zum Zeitpunkt seiner Nominierung durch Papst Pius XII. unter Hausarrest, da er 1946 in einem Schauprozess der jugoslawischen Justiz als Kollaborateur des Ustascha-Regimes verurteilt worden war. Die sogenannte Spanienfrage der UNO bezeichnet die Ereignisse, die der Aufnahme des frankistischen Spaniens in den Vereinten Nationen 1955 vorangingen. Noch 1946 wurde Spanien in der Resolution 30 mit breiter Zustimmung als ehemaliger Verbündeter der Achsenmächte verurteilt und von allen UN-Organisationen ausgeschlossen. Im Kalten Krieg änderten die USA ihre Position und betrachteten Spanien bald als potenziellen Verbündeten. Am 4. November 1950 erfolgte die Aufhebung der Resolution von 1946 gegen die Stimmen der Sowjetunion und ihrer Verbündeter. Damit war der Weg zum Beitritt Spaniens in die UNO geebnet. - Auf Briefpapier mit gepr. Briefkopf.
