About the husband and wife who hate themselves by Okenwa Olisa published by Eastern Niger Printing Press. Undated. Onitsha market literature pamphlets were hugely popular low cost chapbooks published in eastern Nigeria. Widely regarded as literature for the masses, these chapbooks often had interesting titles and were popular for their non standard English and tendency to instruct about the ways of the world and also entertain their readers. The pamphlets largely ceased production during the Nigerian civil war. About the husband and wife who hate themselves tells the story about an illiterate father who forces his daughter to marry a rich man. With no love lost between them, all couple soon begin to quarrel and engage in physical fights which draws the attention of neighbours. This rare original pamphlet is in very good condition with no writing or highlighting.
