Hardcover. Condition: Good. Cheerful Chapters: Adapted to Youth, and Not Unsuited to Age by Old Alan Gray. A Victorian moral and instructional work aimed at young readers, published by the Religious Tract Society. This copy includes a period frontispiece illustration and retains its original blue cloth binding with decorative black stamping to the front board. The book carries a contemporary handwritten prize inscription dated January 1876, awarded by the Wesleyan Sunday School, Reynoldston, adding provenance and historical interest. A scarce survival of 19th-century religious and educational literature, increasingly hard to find complete in original cloth.Good for age. Boards show rubbing, edge wear, and surface marks consistent with Victorian cloth bindings. Spine worn with fading and rubbing, but remains intact and readable. Corners bumped. Internally, pages are age-toned with scattered spotting and foxing. Binding remains sound. Period handwritten prize inscription present to front endpaper. No loose pages.
