Pamphlet, lacing any wraps issued. 29 pp. A report by Mordecai Oliver, dissenting from the majority report issued by the House of Representatives investigating fighting and turmoil in the territory of Kansas. This includes some account of fighting between pro-slavery and free state members, as well as influence of people from Missouri. GOOD condition. Minor toning and wrinkling. Rear cover soiled. Two horizontal fold creases present.

Stock lightly toned but otherwise in VG order throughout. Green cloth boards with bevelled edges and gilt titling to front and spine. This faded, boards only lightly marked and thus a nice copy of a scarce book. 8vo. 158pp.

Contemporary half calf, rather worn, hinges weak, occasional light foxing. With the bookplate of Hon Charles B Bernard to each pastedown. From the library of William St Clair, with his signature to each volume, dated 2009 in volume one in his distinctive handwriting. Note by St Clair; includes analysis of payments for public works, and further notes to the rear pastedown of each volume (see photographs). One-page off-print from MAN on Greek mining by Oliver Davies inserted loosely to page 438 of Volume 2. A nice association: St Clair was a leading historian and supporter of modern Greece, author of That Greece Might Still Be Free, and Lord Elgin and the Marbles amongst other works. An interesting work, not common on the market.

This uncommon, and well-illustrated handbook to the Yukon Territory, with extended section on the Klondike Yukon gold strikes, history, gold mines, placer mining, gold dredges, hydraulic mining, open-pit gold mining, with census of all the mines. Also included are sections on coal mining, homesteading, big game hunting, railroad building, and much more. From the library of former California State Librarian, Gary Kurutz. Former owner's inked name at top of half title page, fore-edges of front cover and first four pages have tiny nicks, top edges of last 20 pages are roughly trimmed, else a tight and internally clean very good copy.

First volume by Her Majesty's Stationery Office in 'The Corona Library' series of books about the British Colonial territories. Contains (xii), 307 + i pp with 40 black and white and colour plates on loaded paper, 6 text drawings, and 7 maps. Rear pocket holds very large folded map of Hong Kong and the New Territories (40'' x 28¾'' (G. S. G. S. 3961, 3rd edition, North Sheet, Grid Correction 1946, printed 1949) and a large folded colour map of New Territories and of Victoria & Kowloon Street Plan and Densities of Population (25¼'' x 18½''), spare gatherings made by the binder to allow to the book to close neatly with the maps in situ. Printed in black on one side of a 51 x 39 cm piece of light-green paper. Heavily inked, in the variety of types and point sizes typical of the period. Printed on high-acidity paper, and perhaps a unique survival. Aged and worn, with chipping and short closed tears to extremities.
