Cfr: Autori italiani del '600, p. 118, n. 482 Cicogna 668 Lozzi 6077-78 Prima edizione del vivido resoconto del monaco benedettino veneziano dello storico incontro di pace, segreto, tra Papa Alessandro III e l'imperatore Federico I Barbarossa, tenutosi a Venezia il 24 luglio 1177 alla presenza del Doge in carica Sebastiano Ziani (1172-78) e dei conseguenti vantaggi militari assicurati alla Repubblica. Il pannello inferiore del frontespizio inciso mostra l'Imperatore inginocchiato davanti al Papa con il Doge in piedi alla sua destra alla presenza dei vescovi. Il bordo superiore incorpora i ritratti di San Pietro e San Marco. Venezia faceva parte della lega lombarda anti-imperiale delle città che sconfissero Federico Barbarossa a Legnano (1176). L'Imperatore dovette quindi riconoscere la supremazia del Papato. Questa è l'ultima stampa registrata del celebre tipografo veneziano Evangelista Deuchino. Francesco Valesio (illustrator).
