Mahmoud Hamchari (Palestine 1939- Paris 1973) part travailler au Koweït puis va enseigner l'arabe en Algérie, après l'Indépendance de ce pays. En 1969, il est nommé Représentant du Mouvement National Palestinien - Fatah et de l'OLP à Paris. Le 8 décembre 1972, il est victime d'une charge explosive cachée par le Mossad dans son appartement parisien et succombe le 9 janvier 1973. Il s'agit de la première opération meurtrière du Mossad en France, mais de la deuxième organisée par la Mossad sur ordre de la Première ministre Golda Meïr, dans le cadre de l'Opération "Colère de Dieu" déclenchée suite à la prise d'otages israéliens aux Jeux Olympiques de Munich.
