Edited by such American literary giants as Eugene O'Neill, James Branch Cabell, and Theodore Dreiser among others this paper is an extremely important record of America's literary world in the 1930's. Examples of contributors to the first issue (as well as the editors) include George Jean Nathan, Ernest Boyd, Clarence Darrow, Frank Swinnerton, Havelock Ellis, VanWyck Brooks, Lincoln Stephens, Liam O'Flaherty, Ring lardner, Louis Untermayer and Calvin Bridges.
