Signed FDC, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Petersburg, IL on 22 August 1970 and with "First Day… of Issue" boldly stamped. Single 6-cent "Edgar Lee Masters American Poet" stamp designed by Ortnes at upper right. Near fine. At lower left, Ortnes signs large and bold in brown fineline. With portion of the original transmittal envelope, cancelled in West Redding, CT on 26 August 1970. Unusual.
