Mostly scene of soldiers in the field. Many of the plates have been reproduced in smaller format in many later works. In portfolio. One flap detached. Black tape repairs/reinforcement to board edges. Plates 12 x 16 inches on heavy card stock. Plates all fine except one which has been trimmed & mounted on sheet of same size as rest of set. Very Oversize.

Originally issued in 25 wrappered parts folio size, housed in 2 book folders with decorative front cover boards, containing 870 pages with 102 full page colour plates by Rudolph von Ottenfeld of soldiers in uniform, uniforms and weapons of the Austrian Army covering the period 1700 to 1867, plus many other illustrations in the text. THIS SET IS LACKING PART 13 consisting of pages 403 to 442 and 5 plates leaving a total of 98 plates. The plates and text are in near fine condition, the book folders the folio's are housed in have some marks especially the rear board of folder 1. The work of Rudolph von Ottenfeld is considered to be the most accurate depiction of the Austrian Armies of the 18th and 19th Centuries and stands amongst the top ten of Uniform books and is without a doubt the definitive study of the Austrian Army.
