Jahrhunderts bis zum Beginn der Moderne, wobei der Schwerpunkt bei der Zeit um 1900 liegt. - Wenn von ,Plakatkunst und von ,Künstlerplakat gesprochen wird, so sind es in erster Reihe natürlich die Künstler, die ein Plakat, das von ihnen entworfen wurde,…zum Künstlerplakat machen. Aber auch auf die Kunstanstalt kommt viel an, die das Plakat [.] in Druckfarben kombiniert, ausführt und druckt. Bei der Auswahl und Herstellung der farbigen Tafeln dieses Werks ist also auch darauf Rücksicht genommen worden, daß nicht nur die wichtigsten österreichischen Künstler, sondern auch hervorragende Kunstanstalten Österreichs durch eigene Reproduktionen ihrer Plakatdrucke vertreten sind (Vorwort). - 1915 veröffentlichte Mascha sein Opus magnum, den prächtig ausgestatteten Band ,Österreichische Plakatkunst. Dieses Werk stellt die Grundlage aller späteren Publikationen zum Thema dar und ist mittlerweile selbst zu einem ebenso raren wie hoch gehandelten Sammlerobjekt geworden. Schließlich waren nur 200 Exemplare als Leinenausgabe und 30 Stück als Vorzugsausgabe [.] aufgelegt worden (Bernhard Denscher). Um die Veröffentlichung des Werks zu ermöglichen, musste der Autor einen Großteil der Herstellungskosten selbst übernehmen. - Mit farbenprächtigen Wiedergaben nach Plakaten von Gustav Klimt (Erste Kunstausstellung der Secession), Heinrich Lefler, Bertold Löffler (Kabarett Fledermaus), Hans Makart, Koloman Moser, Jos.
