The text contains essays and other writings on several subject categories; Byzantium and the Crusades, Western Presence in the Eastern Mediter…ranean, Reaction to the Western Presence in the Levant, "Materia Orientalis" and Western Medieval Culture, and Crusades and the Outskirts of Europe. There is a section at the end of the text with seventy-one black and white plates, diagrams, and map. The top edge of this section has been wet at one time. Consequently, there is some characteristic wrinkling. Luckily, this stops at the top edge of the plate illustrations. Overall, a very good copy with light soiling on the cover, and the flaw mentioned above.
