Pius P.P. IX., The Encyclical Letter Of Pius IX. includes Latin Text with English Translation, paper wrappers, extracted from larger binding, 24 pp., Large Library stomp on 1st page 'Stafford Club Library', inked underline note on last page (24) Good condition: he Encyclical Letter of Pope Pius IX, known as "Quanta Cura," was issued on December 8, 1864. This encyclical is notable for condemning several modern errors affecting civil society and the church, emphasizing the dangers of separating church from state, and promoting secularism and naturalism. It notably includes the Syllabus of Errors, a list that condemns various propositions viewed as incompatible with Catholic doctrine, such as rationalism, liberalism, and secularization. "Quanta Cura" criticizes the notion that societies should be governed without regard to religion, equating such ideas to promoting a "liberty of perdition." It argues against the separation of church and state, the idea that public opinion could supersede divine and natural law, and the encroachment of civil authority over religious matters. The encyclical stresses the importance of adhering to divine law and the teachings of the Catholic Church for the salvation of souls and the proper ordering of societies. For the full text of "Quanta Cura" and its accompanying Syllabus of Errors, you can refer to primary sources available on websites like Papal Encyclicals Online. Additionally, the Vatican website provides access to a comprehensive list of documents issued by Pope Pius IX, including other encyclicals, in various languages, offering insights into his pontificate and the church's stance on numerous issues during his time. Wikipedia also offers a list of all encyclicals issued by Pope Pius IX, giving an overview of the subjects addressed during his papacy.
