Folding historical procession depicting a variety of figures in the 500-year history of the University of Heidelberg from its founding under Rupert I in 1386 through the newly formed German Empire of the late 19th century. Original red cloth backed pictorial boards, worn at extremities. Some brittleness of folding panels and resultant tears (without loss of images), else very good 24 folding panels illustrated by H. Kley. 1 vols. Oblong 8vo (6 x 8-1/2 inches).

Covers well worn and marked, the joint of vol. II is split 3" in the middle. Hinges split. First 7 leaves of vol. I have what looks like a small mouse nibble from the bottom corner of the fore-edge and the free front endpaper and half-title page are dog-eared. The gatherings of the leaves of vol. II are quite loose and shaken, with quires and leaves in danger of coming loose. The fold-out chart to the rear pocket of vol. II is torn around the edges and is missing the top-left corner. A very well used but serviceable set.

Thirteen charming panoramic views showing the Tyrolean Alps and their environs: Ammergau, Tux, Stubai, Ötztal, Zillertal, and Lechtal Alps, Karwendel, Verwall and Wetterstein Mountains. Executed by the well-known publishers Eugen Felle and Ott & Ruep in Isny/Allgäu; probably the work of the painter Josef Ruep (1886-1940), since one panorama bears his signature "Rp." - Tissue guards mostly wrinkled and with tears; drawings perfectly preserved.
