First edition thus. 12mo., xiii, (i), 14-216 pp., with 12 plates (two folding). There are childish pencil scribbling on the table of contents, and on 3 of the plates. Original binding of pale blue cloth with the original paper label affixed to the upper board. The paper label is lacking about 1/3 of the paper and the titling is rubbed and faint. A good or better copy of a scarce Confederate Imprint. Translated from the French by Thomas Robert Bugeaud de la Piconnerie. Parrish & Willigham 4748.

This volume was translated from the French work by Thomas Robert Bugeaud de la Piconnerie which was originally written in 1815 and substantially revised for modern use in 1855. It also includes an appendix by Baron Jomini.
