Mrs. Frances Trollope, the mother of novelist Anthony Trollope, went to America in 1828, where she and her husband failed in a business venture in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hardcover. Condition: Good. Blue w/gilt lettering. Gilt dull. Front endpaper roughly removed revealing a portion of mesh at front pastedown. Minor bump to head and heel of spine, tips of corners rubbed. Text is clean and bright, a handful of pencil tick marks. "Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as "technical English" or "business English." There are applications of English, however, which are peculiar to the work of an engineer or to that of any other professional man. In recognition of that fact, a part of a student's instruction should be given in terms of his particular needs." (from the foreward).

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 36p. A small, thin hardcover book in its original tissue wrapper. Very good condition. The spine is faded; otherwise clean and tight. The wrapper is chipped and yellowed with age, but largely intact. An essay about Frances Trollope (author of DOMESTIC MANNERS OF THE AMERICANS) and her experiences in Cincinnati, Ohio. Measures approx. 6.25" x 4.7".
30p., illustrated with b&w period photography on inserted coated stock and vignette line-drawings, deckle edged textblock, hardbound in 6x4.5 inch pictorial boards. Faintest sign of handling or age, clean and free of ownership marks, a very good copy that is inscribed and signed across the titlepage by author Park (but his handwriting is lousy).
