Bound in half leather and marbled paper boards. Hubbed spine bears gilt ornamentation and lettering. Illustrated throughout with engraved plates in black and white. Frontispiece is a portrait of P.G.M. Joseph B. Chandler. Dual columned, the text is small. 380 pp. Substantial wear and soiling, the back cover has two large pieces of the marbled paper worn away. A 1.5" piece of the spine's backstrip is missing at the foot. Hinges are cracked and front cover board is fragile, yet both boards are still affixed. Toned and heavily foxed throughout, yet text is quite legible and engravings are crisp. Pagination is complete. This copy is rough, but its contents and history are remarkable. Good only. Full refund if not satisfied.
