Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. "An Introduction to the World's Greatest" ain't books but rather a boxed set of five, 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm vinyl jazz LP records, World's Greatest Music Series WGM(S)-2A, "from the catalogue of Roulette Records Birdland Series," the vinyl very-good-plus (no real problems, but these records have been played), four of the five discs marked "Stereo," the box intact and "very good" with some edge rub and what's probably a sticker pull to bottom of rear panel. On the bright side, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis offer "Crazeology" and "Bird Feathers"; Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker bring us "School Days" and "Swing Low Sweet Cadillac"; Art Tatum offers "Dark Eyes"; the Stan Getz Quartet brings us "Hershey Bar"; we find Sonny Stitt with "Spinning" and "Hitsburg." Maynard Ferguson, Sarah Vaughan ("Stormy Weather") and Joe Williams each get a full disc to themselves, set of five now reduced from $12. For Maynard Ferguson fans we'll throw in OUR SECOND BOXED SET of two Roulette LPs, "The Maynard Ferguson Years," K-101, appear to be mono, very-good-plus vinyl in a "good" original 1965 box, including "Hip Twist," "Stella By Starlight," "Mambo La Mans" (sic), "The Party's Over," etc. -- that second boxed set being about a $4 value, the pair of boxed sets now reduced from $14.

God to the rescue -- V. The atonement and ourselves -- VI. The process and end of redemption. -- `If St. Augustine, according to the old legend, could no more comprehend the doctrine of the Holy Trinity than the ocean could be emptied into a hole in the sand, how much less can even the outlines of the majestic picture made by the history of God's dealings with the human race be comprised within the covers of a book of this size! Yet there seems to be a place for such an attempt as this to depict the redemptive process as a whole.' (p. 9) Good, sewn, in edgeworn orig. wrapper. Lib. stamp on half-title.

Pamphlet. 15 p.; 20.5 cm. At head of title-page: The Celebrant of the Eucharist. [First printed in 1962] Forward by Douglas Carter, added in 1974: `This paper was written at a time when the principle of priestly celebration of the Eucharist was under fire as a result of proposals for reunion with other groups of Christians who lacked the gift of the priesthood. Today another danger threatens. Within the Church of England the idea is being canvassed that laymen, with no pretence to orders of any kind, could be authorized to celebrate the Eucharist. It is in view of this that a re-issue of Dr Parker's effective pamphlet is practical and timely.' VG, stapled, in orig. green and black on cream wrapper.

4°, 279 S., zahlr., oft farb. Abb., OLwd. m. OU, OU min. gebrauchsspurig, tadellos. EA. - ĞAs a prolific photographer for House Beautiful, Better Homes and Gardens, Architectural Digest, and Sunset magazine, Maynard L. Parker (1900?1976) was a pioneer in documenting residential spaces and landscapes for postwar America. His extensively published, sun-kissed brand of photography made him a critical contributor to domestic design culture from the 1940s into the 1960s. Parker's lens revealed the homes and lifestyles of affluent Americans and celebrities, including Judy Garland, Clark Gable, and Bing Crosby, as well as the interiors, gardens, and built works of Samuel Marx, Frank Lloyd Wright, Thomas Church, and Cliff May, offering an alluring template for living in a new consumer age. Maynard L. Parker: Modern Photography and the American Dream is the first monograph to consider Parker and his work. Lavishly illustrated essays by leading scholars set Parker's photography against the backdrop of an unprecedented demographic shift, the Cold War, and a suburban society increasingly fixated on consumption.ğ 2100 gr.
