According to the jacket copy, it offers 'a gallery of portraits of the Russian writers who took their bearings by Hoffman's star'.including Gogol', Tolstoj, Dostoevskij etc. Royal blue cloth boards and spine with gilt titles along the latter. Condition (dj): the dust jacket is intact although there are both closed and unclosed tears; especially the latter at the base of the spine (image). It is difficult to tell if the jacket is tanned or the tanning is merely part of its colour scheme (so a 'definite maybe,' again please check out images). pp. 261 (including three appendices: the works of Hoffman, chronology of Hoffmania in Russia, the works of Hoffman in relation to the works of the Russian Hoffmannists). At the end of the book, and unpaginated, is an inventory of other Slavistic Printings (one page only, both sides). 8vo (royal octavo).
