Hardcover. Dust Jacket Included. Handsomely bound in finely woven black cloth spine stamped luminously in silvery blue; and in black paper-covered boards. A near fine copy, crisp and tight, virtually unread. In a complete, near fine, crisp dust jacket with the price of $12.95 at the top of the inside front flap. The front panel features a self-portrait photo of Warhol in the true Warhol Pop-Art style. With a great black and white photo of Warhol and his cat on the rear panel. Warhol is holding a box of "Brillo" and the cat seems to be eating. A superb, collectible copy, signed and inscribed with a drawing. This copy has been inscribed in black flair ink by Andy Warhol at the top of the front endpaper to the late D.D. Ryan of Harper's Bazaar Fashion Fame: "to D.D. love Andy" and decorated with a drawing of a vagina. D.D. Ryan (Dorinda Dixon Ryan), was a fashion designer at Harper's Bazaar where she worked with Diana Vreeland and Richard Avedon. Included in Dorinda's circle of friends were: Truman Capote, Andy Warhol, Hilary Knight, Kay Thompson, and many others. D.D. was married to John Barry Ryan, III, and the couple is mentioned in Frewin's book "The Late Mrs. Dorothy Parker" on p.305 in a paragraph listing a gathering "of social notables." Popism was co-authored by Warhol's frequent collaborator and long-time friend, Pat Hackett, and covers the years 1960-1969, focusing primarily on Warhol's art and film work. It includes anecdotes about celebrities and infamous Factory characters. It is culled in part from the many reels of audio tape that Warhol obsessively recorded during that period. (Wikipedia) First Edition. Stated "First edition" with letters "BCDE" as HBJ did from 1973-1983 to designate first editions. (Allen Ahearn.). 1st Edition. With 'First Edition" and the correct letter line beginning with B.
