Hardcover. Condition: Good. Coloniae Agrippinae [Cologne]: Apud Petrum a Brachel, 1632/1634. Two volumes bound in one. Latin Catholic sermon collection by Paul Bottbach, Benedictine of the Imperial Abbey of St Maximin near Trier, compiled from older orthodox and approved authors for the Sundays of the church year. The copy contains the elaborate engraved general title dated 1634, followed later by the separate typographic title page for Tomus Secundus: Pars Aestivalis, dated 1632. Text in Latin, printed in double columns with marginal references and an extensive index at the end. Contemporary pale velvet binding over boards, worn, soiled and stained, with traces of former ties or clasps; spine and corners rubbed, some loss and wear to the covering. Interior with age-toning, foxing, occasional staining and marginal wear; some leaves with creasing or small defects. Early ownership inscription on a preliminary leaf. A scarce 17th-century Cologne theological/homiletic work, attractive and unusual in a contemporary velvet binding. 336 + 743p. + Index without numbering.
