E' stato anche un appassionato collezionista di presepi natalizi, dei quali ha costituito una collezione di notevole entità esposta a intervalli regolari. "La vedova di Modane" è stato tradotto e pubblicato in Italia da Lerici l'anno seguente: "È davvero uno spettacolo insolito quello che si presenta agli occhi del celebre avvocato francese che, giunto in Italia per un periodo di vacanze, è fermo alla stazione di Modane per il disbrigo delle solite formalità di confine: una vedova in lacrime ritta accanto ad una bara, quella del marito evidentemente.".
