The Carnarvon Tracking Station was established in 1964 to support NASA's manned space programs, including Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab. It was the last station to communicate with the space capsules before they re-entered Earth's atmosphere. During the Apollo 11 mission, the station relayed Neil Armstrong's first steps on the Moon to the rest of the world. The station was staffed by hundreds of people, including electronics technicians and equipment operators. The Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum now commemorates this history and offers visitors a chance to explore the town's contributions to space exploration,
