Hardcover. Condition: Fair. First Edition. No date given, c1860. Elaborate Victorian plate book with exquisitely-colored drawings of fruit and flowers, fully printed in gilt. Original cloth binding of cream and gilt with large color onlay on front board and gilt floral motif on rear. Includes all 12 full-page chromolithographic plates each with companion verse printed in gilt. Heavy wear and soiling to the boards, spine cover torn, front cover pastedown is dried and cracking, interior hinges cracked with loose pages. The interior plates however are much superior with clean and bright pages and only very light age toning and maybe isolated light soiling to the edges but not unexpected given the age. There's NO foxing and no tears or repairs. Extremely uncommon title with desirable plates. Here's the list of plates: Group of the Serpent Vase, Group of the Rose Vase, Group of the Ivory Vase, Group of the Gathering, Group of the Shell, Group of the Wedding, The Poppy Group, Group of the Grief, The Tulip Group, Group of Change, Lily Group, and Group of Gratitude. Paul Jerrard (1810-1888) was a London bookseller, artist, illustrator, lithographic, zincographic and colour printer, map and print colourist.

First Edition. Mid-nineteenth century opulence: two elaborate Victorian plate books with plates of fruit and flowers complimenting verse, fully printed in gilt. Two folios in original cloth with large colour card onlay on front board and gilt floral motif on rear, 24 full-page chromolithographic plates each facing a matching gilt printed poem; cloth mildly browned in book 1, binding rubbed and mild preliminary foxing in book 2, a very good set with beautiful clean plates.
