Stoffa escaped making his way through China to the Pacific Ocean where he managed to board a ship to the USA. In America he signed on… as a stoker on a Swedish ship destined for Europe. When the ship put into Stornaway he was captured, & lacking any military credentials was imprisoned in London before being sent to the civilian camp at Alexandra Palace before being transferred to Knockaloe POW camp. Inc. remarkable accounts of Cossacks at the time of the revolution & of life in China. Front end paper laid-down & two small institutional stamps o/w a nice copy of a very scarce title.
