Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Red cloth. 318 pp. Black and white photos and illustrations throughout, all present as called for. A firsthand account of the author's travels through Syria and associated lands in the Middle East, discussing the people and their culture and customs, as well as the various cities and towns he visited. Terhune discusses various holy sites and cities, as well as places such as Beirut, Damascus, the Bedouins, etc. Perhaps of note, Terhune calls attention in his introduction to the plight of the Armenians in Turkey, taking to task England and the United States for their lack of attention to Turkey's treatment of the Armenians. This foreshadows the Armenian Genocide that was to occur starting in 1915. By Albert Payson Terhune, an American author perhaps best known for his works on dogs. GOOD condition. Covers offset along the spine, with general fading. Minor soiling and spotting. Some scuffing along the extremities. Interior binding shaken but holding.
