Soft cover. Condition: Good. Ray Pease (Cover Art) (illustrator). 1st Edition. Runaway Girl" by William Arnold, was published in 1952 by Original Novels. This is the First Edition (PBO). This novel of "Wayward Teenagers" was part of a wave of books - fictional and non-fictional - written about the so -called juvenile delinquency problem that the media wanted everyone to think was ruining the country. The good girl art (GGA) on the cover , picturing a young girl, surely well on her way to the darker side of life, was created by cover artist Ray Pease. It was alarmist fiction . ringing all the warning bells for worried parents? "YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL - ALONE ON CITY STREETS - CAUGHT AND DEGRADED . A book no parent can afford to miss! This is the story of how one runaway girl, one among the many who disappear from American homes every year, fell into the trap of organized evil . and how she fought her way back." TITLE : Runaway Girl AUTHOR : William Arnold COVER ARTIST : Ray Pease (Raymond S. Pease) IMPRINT : Original Books (No. 724) PLACE : New York DATE : (1952) EDITION : First Edition (PBO) PHYSICAL DETAILS : 125 pages , plus 2 pages of publisher's list (Featuring such titles as "Zip-Gun Angels", "Harlem Woman", "City of Sin", "Backwoods Hussy"); approx. 5 1/4" x 7 1/2", pictorial wraps, saddle stapled. CONDITION - GOOD PLUS - This is a previously owned book that remains intact and clean, with the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR : Front cover displays moderate rub and a touch of abrasion (or scuffing), else clean with good color; the rear cover is bright, but has a serious crease to the top fore-edge corner - surface rub is mild. The staples are still solidly attached. No leaves are detached or loose.
