Series: Les albums du P?re Castor. / "Alphonse Daudet (1840-1897), a French novelist and short-story writer, is celebrated for his depictions of Provence, his childhood region, and his insightful portrayals of the bourgeoisie of his time. Daudet began his career as a poet before turning to novels and short stories. His first success came with "Froment et Risler" (1874), which won him the attention of the French literary world. However, his most famous work is "Letters from My Windmill" ("Lettres de mon moulin," 1869), a collection of short stories that capture the character and customs of Provence. Another significant work, "Tartarin of Tarascon" (1872), is a satirical novel that humorously depicts the people of Tarascon, a town in southern France. Daudet's later works, such as "The Nabob" (1877) and "Kings in Exile" (1879), reflect his observations of the political and social changes in France during his lifetime. Despite suffering from syphilis, Daudet continued to write until his death in 1897. His works remain popular in France and have been translated into many languages."?Bing. // Goats -- Juvenile fiction. Tales -- France. Ch?vres -- Romans, nouvelles, etc. pour la jeunesse.
