Per la prima volta la presenza di Leonardo ad Urbino e Pescara come architetto e ingegnere generale al servizio di Cesare Borgia nel 1502, è presentata in un contesto storico e culturale che comprende ogni aspetto dell'arte, della scienza e della tecnologia di Leonardo, come pure del suo pensiero filosofico, a un tempo quando egli doveva affrontare i compiti più impegnativi, senza però perdere mai di vista l'opportunità di trarre informazione e ispirazione da fonti e tradizioni locali, e questo durante il suo peregrinare in un territorio di bellezza indicibile via via fino ai Monti Sibillini, all'estremo sud, il misterioso regno della Maga Alcina, la leggendaria Sibilla. Questo è il punto focale del romanzo medievale Guerin Meschino, un libro che Leonardo possedeva insieme con L'Acerba di Cecco d'Ascoli, un contemporaneo di Dante, e un'altra delle sue fonti letterarie e filosofiche. This is the focal point of the medieval novel Guerin Meschino, a book Leonardo owned together with L'Acerba by Cecco d'Ascoli, a contemporary of Dante, another of his literary and philosophical sources.
