Includes several sections of black & white photography on glossy paper. Notes. Appendix. Index. Photo-illustrated endpapers. Bound in blue cloth with silver lettering stamped on spine and front board. In the dust jacket. Inscribed by the author on title page. Inscription reads, "To Margaret Hall, proofer extraordinaire with thanks for all your help / [signed] Doris H. Pieroth". Margaret Hall received her PhD. from the University of Washington and focused her work on the history of women in academia. She's credited in the author's preface as providing invaluable guidance. Dust jacket is now preserved within a clear, removable archival sleeve.
