Hardcover. Condition: Good. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Bound in dark maroon cloth over boards with gold lettering to the front cover and spine. No date to be found anywhere. It appears to be late 1800s, early 1900s- but that is a best guess. 587 pages. In Dutch throughout. Good condition. Binding is tight and square. The cloth a…t the edges of the boards has some light rubbing. Some discoloration to the back cover. Pages are toned, but free of any marks or writing. Decorated endpapers are slightly more toned. Overall good condition. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term biological diversity to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
