Book has a forward lean, tips and spine ends bumped but not rubbed. 147pp text tight and bright with top edge dyed blue. This, the second offering tells of Melka's further adventures in England, where she leads an even more exciting life than during her early days in the Sudan. The tale is told with the same knowledge and love of horses that characterized the earlier volume, and readers young and old will burn the midnight oil following the ponies varied career including foxhunting, working in the big top at a circus and hauling a Gypsy caravan.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Gift quality first edition hardcover in grass green cloth covered boards with dark brown titles. Spine ends barely bumped, tips still sharp. No names, tears or soil in the tight, crisp 134pp text. Profusely illustrated with line drawings by Dugald McGregor. Not ex-library. Original, un-clipped tan dust wrapper illustrated with brown drawings and green titles shows one half-inch closed tear at foot of frt panel, one quarter-inch closed tear at head of same, a short wrinkle at head of spine. Slight darkening along backstrip and gutter areas on both panels. Jacket now in new mylar and displays very well. A silky-haired black Cocker puppy, full of mischief, with an appealing eye and busy tail-wag for his friends, and a good hearty bark and bite for his enemies - this is Daniel, whose adventurous first year of life is described here. The Fairbairn family, his first owners, take him to live in town and make a great fuss of him; then with a new master, Alastair, he goes 'on the road' for the summer months and makes himself really useful, nosing out rabbits for the stockpot and even saving Alastair's life.
