Reprint, [viii], 122pp. The Kamba or Akamba people are a Bantu peoples ethnic group who predominantly live in Kenya stretching from Nairobi to Tsavo and northwards to Embu, in the southern part of the former Eastern Province. The Kamba are originally believed to have originated from the Congo Basin region of Central Africa. This book on their Customary Law is divided into the following sections: Marriage; Divorce; Custody of Widows and Children - Inheritance; Land Tenure and Inheritance in Law; The "Kithitu" Oath and the "Ndundu" Oath; Ordeals; Adultery, fornication and Unnatural Behaviouir; Offences Against the Person - The Blood Price; Theft; witchcraft; Beer Drinking; Insanity; Stock Trespass, Damage to Property, Debt, Partnership in Cattle; and Offences Connected with the Social Organisation of the Kamba. The book is bound in the original light brown card covers with blue titling on the spine a blue titling with an illustration on the front cover. It is in very good condition with some shelf wear to the covers and a crease across the top corner of the front cover. The contents are secure and clean with no inscription.
